Question What is the Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service?
Answer The Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service provides great downloadable and streaming audio content for a low monthly fee. Thousands of classic old-time radio programs are available. Now you can download or stream great old-time radio programs to your PC whenever YOU want. You can also transfer your programs to a portable MP3 player and enjoy them anytime, anywhere! The Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service allows you to pay for only the content you want and NOT the product materials, packaging, and shipping!
Question What is an audio download?
Answer An audio download is a digital audio file that may be "downloaded" or transferred and saved on a user’s computer. Once a file has been downloaded completely it may be played on demand without waiting to download it again. Downloaded files may be burned to CD-R or transferred to an MP3 player for portable listening.
Question What is an audio stream?
Answer An audio stream is a digital audio file that is continuously transferred or "streamed" to and played on a user’s computer. In effect, the user can listen to the file while it is being streamed across the internet, thereby eliminating long download times. Audio streams may be requested at any time but they may not be saved to a user’s computer or burned to CD-R. An active internet connection is required to stream an audio program.
Question What are the advantages of getting audio downloads and streams from the Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service vs. buying traditional hard good products?
Answer Purchasing your audio content in the downloadable and streaming formats offered by the Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service has several advantages including:

Delivery on Demand - Download or stream your favorite audio programs whenever you like. No more going to the store and waiting in line, or waiting for days or weeks for your products to arrive in the mail. Get the content you want, when you want it, in the comfort of your own home or office.

Selection - Choose from thousands of great old-time radio shows. Many programs are available exclusively through the Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service.

Value - Save up to 90% off the price of traditional hard good products. With audio downloads and streams from the Radio Vault Digital Audio Subscription Service, you pay only for the great content and not for the materials, packaging, or shipping!

Question What are the advantages of audio downloads vs. audio streams?
Answer After you download an audio program, it is stored on your computer’s hard drive and you may listen to it anytime without a connection to the internet. In addition, since the audio program is played directly from your computer’s hard drive no program interruptions will occur due to slow internet connections or internet congestion.

Audio downloads may also be transferred to portable MP3 players.

Question What are the advantages of audio streams vs. audio downloads?
Answer Audio streams allow you to immediately begin listening to your audio program after a short, initial delay (buffering). In addition, audio streams do not require hard drive storage space on your computer.
Question What type of content is available through the Radio Vault Audio Download Subscription Service?
Answer A wide selection of classic old-time radio programs is available including The Shadow, The Jack Benny Show, Fibber McGee and Molly, Burns and Allen, Hopalong Cassidy, and many more.
Question How often is the content updated and how much can I choose from?
Answer The content offered in the Radio Vault Audio Download Subscription Service is updated frequently with new programs being added daily. You may currently choose from several thousand audio programs.
Question What happens at the end of my free trial period?
Answer At the end of your day free trial period, you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of that month (the "Initial Bill"). If you signed up on or before the 15th of the month you will receive 20 hours of premium downloadable content for the remainder of that first month. If you signed up after the 15th you will receive 10 hours of premium downloadable content for the remainder of that first month. Each month thereafter, you will receive 20 hours of streaming or downloadable content for a flat rate of $19.95, billed on the first of each month.
Question What will I receive for my monthly subscription fee?
Answer Each month you will receive the right to download up to 20 hours of premium downloadable content. In addition, you may enjoy unlimited audio streaming from our large archive of shows featured on our three popular old-time radio broadcasts--When Radio Was, Radio SuperHeroes, and Radio Movie Classics.
Question How will I be billed for my subscription plan?
Answer You will be billed for your Initial Bill as detailed above. Then, beginning with the first full month after your free trial period, your credit card will be billed the flat rate of only $19.95 on the first of each month for that month’s service. This will entitle you to select up to 20 hours of premium downloadable content and unlimited audio streaming each month.
Question What if I exceed my monthly subscription allotment?
Answer Each month you get 20 hours of content for your low flat monthly rate. If you would like to access even more content you may do so at the rate of just 95 cents per hour.
Question What happens to the downloads I purchased if I cancel my account?
Answer It is your responsibility to download the premium files that you select before you cancel your subscription. Again, you must download the files you have selected while your subscription is still active. We allow each file to be downloaded a maximum of 2 times. It is your responsibility to backup your downloaded files. If you lose your downloaded files for any reason you will not be able to download them more than 2 times without using additional download minutes to re-purchase the files.

Question How does the download process work?
Answer A user selects one of the available audio programs he/she would like to obtain and adds it to his/her shopping cart. Once the user has confirmed that he/she would like to acquire the audio program, the length of that particular program in minutes is subtracted from the user’s account balance for that month. The user will then be taken to their "My Audio Files" page which will contain a listing of the newly added download(s) at the top of the page. At this point the user may choose to either download or stream each individual audio program. For downloads, the user should click on the program they wish to download at that time. Some longer audio programs may be broken up into several parts. Once the file has been completely transferred to the user’s hard drive, it may be played with any audio player capable of playing MP3 files.

For streams, the user should simply click on the file name which they wish to hear at that time. After a short initial delay "buffering," that program should begin to play in whatever default media player you have set up to play streaming MP3 files.

Question What do I need to play your files?
Answer In order to listen to our audio files on your PC you will need an audio player that can play MP3 files. You will also need a working sound card and speaker(s). If you wish to utilize our downloads, you will also need sufficient storage space on your hard drive in which to save your downloads. If you wish to listen to audio streams, you will need an active internet connection of at least 64Kbps and the free Flash Player application installed in your web browser. The free Flash Player application is likely already installed in your web browser but if you need it it is available here.
Question What audio file formats are available from RadioVault.com?
Answer All downloadable audio files are available in 128 Kbps MP3 format. Streaming files are 64 Kbps streaming MP3 files which utilize the Flash Player.
Question What audio player do I need to play my download files?
Answer You will need an audio player that can play MP3 files. Most modern audio players such as Windows Media Player and iTunes/Quicktime can play MP3 files.
Question How long will my downloads work?
Answer Your downloads are in the MP3 format. As long as you maintain a digital copy of each file you download they should work indefinitely. You should backup each of your downloads regularly to CD-R, an external hard drive, and/or another PC. We are not responsible for lost, damaged, or accidentally deleted downloads.
Question How long does it take to download files?
Answer The length of time required to download an audio file depends on two factors, the size of the file and the speed of your internet connection. If you have a broadband connection such as a cable modem, DSL, ISDN, or T-1 line it will typically take 20 seconds to 2 minutes to download each file. If you have a slower connection it will take longer.
Question What if my connection is lost while I am downloading a file?
Answer Unfortunately if your connection is lost while you are downloading a file you must start your download again. Fortunately, most of the larger audio programs are conveniently broken into several parts.
Question Will these files play on a handheld device?
Answer Digital downloads may be enjoyed on your PC and other handheld devices which are capable of playing MP3 files.
Question Can I create a CD from my downloaded files that will play in a regular audio CD player?
Answer Yes, as part of your subscription we allow you to copy each premium download you obtain through our service to a standard audio CD format for playback on a normal audio CD player. In order to do this you must have a recordable CD-R device and the necessary software on your PC to burn an Audio CD-R.
Question What is bit rate?
Answer Bit rate is a measure of the amount of data read per second of audio played.
Question Will your downloads and streams work on a Macintosh?
Answer Yes. The MP3 downloads and streaming programs offered via our service should work on all Macs.
Question What should I do if I get a new PC?
Answer If you get a new PC you may simply transfer your downloaded programs to your new computer. You should login to your RadioVault.com account using the same login email adddress and password you used on your old computer.
Question Can I use the audio files I purchase on more than one machine?
Answer Yes, we allow you to use the downloads you obtain from our service for your own personal use on your own PCs, handheld players, and CD players. Downloads and streaming programs obtained from our service may not be shared with or sold to other individuals or third parties. Doing so may be a violation of copyright and other laws.
Question How can I tell how much download time remains in my account for the current month?
Answer When you are logged into your RadioVault.com subscription account the upper left hand corner of most pages will display the amount of download minutes you have remaining in your RadioVault.com Digital Audio Subscription Service account for that particular month.
Question Do unused monthly download minutes carry over to the next month?
Answer No they do not. On the first day of each month your account is reset with a full month's worth of premium download minutes that you are entitled to download that calendar month according to the subscription plan for which you signed up.
